This page serves as a repository for some of my projects and creative works. I will continually add projects and update the details over time.
The original inspiration for PostdocPartum, #dissertuesday was a weekly update to social media about my thoughts and feelings during my months of thesis writing. The inspiration for #dissertuesday came through a friend, who linked to this WordPress post on facebook. I hope to help grow this movement and further document the physical and mental energy required to write a full doctoral dissertation.
Saturday Cooking Night was a weekly ritual that helped me survive graduate school. It started with four friends carpooling to a distant multi-cultural grocery store on Saturday afternoon. All suffering the pangs of hunger, loneliness, and financial parsimony we decided to cook dinner together that night and split the costs. Upon discovering how much food we could eat and how little it cost, we proposed to make it a regular happening. Over time, our recipes grew more complex and ambitious and many friends came and went. As the frequent co-host and one of the head chefs for the night's food, Saturday Cooking Night remains one of my fondest memories in graduate school.
In March of 2016, a close friend of mine drove from Atlanta to his home in Beverly Hills, near Los Angeles, and I joined him for the adventure. Inspired by the sights, I spontaneously decided to write one poem for each major city or region we traveled through.
